i went to the lagoon in front of the cleveland museum of art with my pal jocelyn yesterday. she filled me in on the crazy amount of bluegill that are in there. you're not aloud to fish it so there has to be 1000's, if not 10,000's, it's like you could walk across the lagoon by stepping on the fish's backs....and the thing is, they get fed all day long by the folks hanging out in that park so there is no fear of people. they come looking for you. so we took a chance of getting caught and netted a few out for my sunfish tank. afterwards we went and fished at e. 55th street.
as for my new 150 gallon tank, this is what's going to be on the back glass. the original is pen, ink, and acrylic, 12" x 4". it's being blown up onto a film by JAK PRINTS that can be put on the glass like putting up wall paper. the one that's being blown up to size will be 6' x 2'.
i'm looking to make another north american native fish tank with this one. my idea is to have two different species of fish. one will be a large school of crappie. the others will be a handful of rainbow darters, at least that's what i'm thinking right now. i'll have several weeks before i can put any fish in it once the tank is set up.
a few of the playboys are ballerinas, you'll be seeing more of them soon.
the "september 1972" playboy piece was drawn on one of my favorite covers playboy has ever done. check it out, how cool is this, sexy, fun, and great composition. see how the shoes (which are amazing) lead your eyes from the toes up her legs to the tattoo and her ass. then the top she's wearing brings your eyes to her shoulders, then to the arms going down to the hands, which are on the shoes. this starts the visual cycle again, looking back up the legs and back around. always keeping your eye moving through the figure and never leading you off the page...brilliant.
this thing robert is putting together is a great opportunity to get your art shown without having to go through a gallery. the areas that are going to be part of this project have a fair amount of foot traffic too. of coarse the art will have to be approved first. if you're interested contact robert at...
some other ones for the contest are a DEREK HESS ART SHOW flier for erie pa, MINDFUNK, and few more of those. maybe a flier or two i did cut and paste with no hand drawn art form some early shows at the euclid tavern. all these fliers are not available for sale anywhere, so the only way you'll get one signed is through this contest.
ok, here it is.
